Year Two introduced the enhancement of children’s engagement with the My Little Pony world with the release of pony playsets. New My Little Pony playsets (and occasionally recolored versions of older sets) were released each year through the end of the G1 era. While many of the playsets are featured in the TV series and movie, the included pony often is not.

Year Two (1983-1984)
Year Two was a big year for playsets. All four releases include a pony and a small pony friend.
Dream Castle is the ponies’ home in Rescue at Midnight Castle/Firefly's Adventure, Escape from Catrina, and My Little Pony: The Movie (1986) (until it is Smoozed), but Majesty is not featured at all.
Year Three (1984-1985)
US Playset Ponies
The US had two Year Three playsets, and both include a baby earth pony. Both playsets were later reissued with Beddy Bye Eyes versions of the ponies.
The Baby Buggy is extensively featured in the Season One series episode "The Revolt of Paradise Estate", and Lullabye Nursery is the baby ponies' home in Escape from Catrina.
UK Playset Ponies
The UK's Year Three playset is the Gymkhana with Butterscotch.
Year Four (1985-1986)
US Playset Ponies
- Baby Half Note came with the Baby Bonnet School of Dance
- Baby Sleepy Pie came with the Pony Purse
UK Playset Ponies
Year Five (1986-1987)
- Fifi came with Perm Shoppe
- Scoops came with Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe
