Spanish Piggy Ponies

The Spanish piggy ponies were the original G1 ponies made in Spain. They have the "piggy" pose, which a pose that simulates that of a Spanish dressage horse with its left front leg raised.

Piggy ponies were made by two different companies in Spain, Milton Bradly (MB) and Brekar. The packaging art is noticeably much sadder on the toys marked Brekar. None of the ponies had any hoof markings.

For a long time, it was thought these ponies were "fakies." It was not until one was presented mint on card that the collection community realized this was an actual Hasbro version.

Brekar and Milton Bradley each had their own versions of the G1 ponies. Some related to the usual ponies such as Blossom and Butterscotch, but others were completely new creations, such as Rayito and Algodoncete.

In addition, Brekar and MB each manufactured several runs of the ponies, and some of those runs had variant symbols. As a result, there are quite a few variants per type of piggy pony.

Milton Bradley
  • Blossom - regular colors (purple original comb and white/light blue ribbon)
  • Blue Belle - yellow hair (light yellow original comb and light blue ribbon)
  • Butterscotch - blue butterflies (blue original comb and white ribbon)
  • Cotton Candy - white hair and pink symbol (white original comb and pink/red ribbon)
  • Fresita - very apple looking washed out strawberries symbol (purple original comb and purple ribbon)
  • Lemon Drop - regular colored (light purple original comb and white ribbon)
  • Minty - golden/brown haired (yellow original comb and pink ribbon)
  • Rayito - orange body and yellow hair (light yellow original comb and light yellow ribbon)
  • Snuzzle - regular colors (white original comb and pink ribbon)


Brekar - 1984
  • Blue Belle - purple hair and pink stars (white original comb and white ribbon)
  • Butterscotch - regular colors (pink original comb and red ribbon)
  • Minty - white hair (light blue original comb and white ribbon)
  • Snuzzle - regular colors (blue original comb and white ribbon) [maybe gets greener with age than MB version??]
  • Blossom - regular colors (white original comb and white ribbon) [maybe gets greener with age than MB version??]
