Twinkleshine is a G4 Unicorn Pony. She is a background pony seen in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Like many background ponies, her name went unmentioned in the series, until Season 5.

Twinkleshine was originally a background pony, used as an extra or to fill crowd scenes. As a background pony, little was known of her personality or background, until the Season 5 episode Amending Fences. That episode establishes Twinkleshine as a former student of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, and a classmate and friend of Twilight Sparkle. Twilight would drift apart from her after moving to Ponyville, but the two later rekindle their friendship.
