Synopsis

The main characters get pulled into Questopia, and use friendship to make it through.

Plot

Misty excitedly runs into the Crystal Brighthouse to show the others a spell she was working on. She recites the spell and then a small white butterfly appears, flies around, and goes into The Art of Spelling book. This apparently wasn't supposed to happen, as a dark purple energy appears in the book and everyone is horrified, including Misty, who cries out that she wants to take back what she did just as they are all being sucked into the book.

The group find themselves in costumes and in a fairytale, 2D world. Zipp is dressed like Little Red Riding Hood, Izzy as a mermaid, Pipp as an ice/glass/crystal princess (?), Sunny as a witch, Hitch as the Frog Prince, Sparky as a knight, and Misty, who led them into this fairytale world, as the White Rabbit. A book fairy, a little flying pony with book wings, comes out and explains to them that they are in Questopia, and need to complete quests and face a final boss, called Zantorp the Furious, to leave.

A montage plays of them fighting a living gingerbread house, Zipp racing a dragon, and them all dancing across a floor of symbols.

When they finally get to Zantorp's cave, he menacingly threatens them and they all begin to fight him. All except Misty, who hesitates and uses her cutie mark magic to see into Zantorp's mind and memories. It turns out, he had been sadly drawing pictures of ponies on the cave wall and being lonely in general. She shows him some empathy and tells him they can be friends.

The book fairy from earlier appears and immediately assumes they failed, but is surprised to see that they made it through all the quests. Zantorp is sad, but Misty promises that they will visit.

• The title is a play on the phrase for getting immersed in a book one enjoys.
• In G4, the Mane 6 and Spike were also pulled into a book to complete a task and leave, but for them it was a superhero comic book, in Power Ponies. Sunny also gets pulled into a book again in Written in the Starscouts.
• Misty's power is similar to Sunset Shimmer's power in Equestria Girls, where Sunset can touch someone and see into their mind and memories.
