Synopsis

Izzy wakes up on the wrong side of the bed one morning, and realizes she may have the blockywockys, leading her to go on a quest to find her creativity again.

Plot

It's morning in Maretime Bay and Zipp is up at the crack of dawn. She wakes up the others in the Crystal Brighthouse, and they all excitedly go for breakfast but have to stop because they realize they forgot Izzy. Izzy is visibly tired looking, and as the day goes on, she continues to seem off.

They see Hitch in the town and start singing all together, creating a whole flash mob on the street. Sunny is happily working her smoothie stand, Hitch is happily working traffic, Zipp is happily flying around, and Misty and Pipp are happily working at Mane Melody. But after everyone has stopped singing, Izzy is still clumsily dancing around and falls into a flower stand.

Allura is still out in the woods, but her ice is beginning to melt and she's in need of a new hideout.

Izzy has been talking to her makeshift pony made out of trash named Senor Butterscotch all day, and she starts explaining to him about how she feels a creative block.

That's when she bursts into the Crystal Brighthouse and tells the others that she has the blockywockys. She tells them how she's feeling and they encourage her to keep hope. That's when Zipp tells her to go on a quest to solve her problem.

Meanwhile, Allura and Twitch find a cave blocked by boulders near the ocean, and Allura uses her magic to remove the boulders and fill the cave with ice.

Izzy finds a bag already packed for her by the Crystal Brighthouse's magic, grabs the Nova Charm, and leaves a note for her friends as she goes out on her own. When they find the note, the others are worried about her being alone, so they send their cutie mark magic out as a rainbow beam that she can see.

As Izzy is running off on her quest, the Nova Charm creates a portal that takes her to Stardance, who is standing still on the ice. It's clear she's been standing there for a long time, as snow has built up around her and a baby bird is nesting on her head. While Izzy did disturb her, Stardance listens to her problem. And while Stardance doesn't know about the blockywockys, she takes her on a dance in the stars.

Stardance: Play is always the way.

Izzy has fun dancing until the Nova Charm creates a new portal, this time to the dragon lands, where she falls on the back of a dragon flying and sees Blaize. Blaize and the other dragon try to help her by taking her on a trust fall. While Izzy is cautious at first, she finally lets go and free falls and Blaize ends up swooping down to catch her.

Blaize: We don't always know how it's going to turn out, Izzy. Sometimes we just have to jump!

The Nova Charm creates another portal, this time under the Jade Sea, where she meets Destiny the seapony. Both are surprised to see the other. Destiny thinks the word "blockywockys" is funny, and shares a laugh with Izzy. That's when Izzy notices the braids in Destiny's hair, and Izzy asks her to teach her how to make them so she can make them for her friends. They make some together and magic friendship bracelets appear. Their cutie marks also cause an explosion and the Nova Charm creates a final portal home for Izzy.

Destiny: Well, whatever it means, I'm sure a little laughter can set it right. Seaponies believe that laughter can cure anything. It's magic.

Izzy appears on the beach outside Maretime Bay, right in front of Allura and Twitch in their cave, unbeknownst to Izzy. As she walks home, she finds the abandoned fairgrounds. That's when she realizes she can imagine how to fix it up. With her creativity back, the Nova Charm glows even brighter, forcing Allura and Twitch to retreat, and rainbowfying Izzy. The Nova Charm and Izzy begin creating everything she imagined and the other main characters see the blasts and come running.

When they get there, their cutie marks and the Nova Charm's magic splits the Charm into six shards. The following blast pushes Allura and Twitch further and even pushes the main characters back, and the shards land in various places around the new theme park. Allura and Twitch realize this makes getting the Nova Charm to go home almost impossible, and slink off into the shadows.

Izzy excitedly shows the others all the things she dreamt up for each of them, like Sunny's new smoothie stand, a rollercoaster for Zipp, and a popcorn stand for Misty and so forth. Izzy even gave herself a stand to sell things she makes.

Izzy realizes that all she needed was to do something fun and new. And she gives all her friends the braids she learned how to make.

The main characters realize they have to name the new theme park, and Sunny names it the Boardtrot. The group then spends the rest of the night enjoying the Boardtrot.

Izzy: Over time, the blockywockys have afflicted many an artsy pony. Sometimes the blockywockys keep you from finishing a project. Sometimes they keep you from starting one. And sometimes they just make everything go wrong.

Izzy: And for me, it feels like all my creative-y juices are all clogged up on my insides and they just won't come out. It's like losing the thing you love to do the most. Like Sunny not being able to turn into the alicorn and help ponies, Hitch not being able to talk to critters, Pipp losing her voice, Zipp having to fly super slow, and Misty not having a friend in the world to talk to.

Misty: Being alone isn't always a bad thing, Hitch. Sometimes it's easier to hear your own voice when you don't have a bunch of other voices telling you what to do.

Izzy: And B, I think I just needed to relax and do some stuff that I really love, like meet fun ponies and have new experiences. Once I stopped worrying so much about my creative-y juices, a new project came along to inspire me.
