'''Shiny Star the goblin''' is a character in the G1 [[G1 Comic_Books|comic books]].  

At first he is a villain, the '''Star Stealer''', who steals stars from the night sky to decorate his star-tree.  [[Majesty]] cannot get the stars back by force, so instead she gathers up a posse of ponies to stand outside the goblin's garden making rude remarks about him.  Star Stealer is so upset by their comments that throws all his stars at the ponies in a rage.  As [[Majesty]] gathers the stars, she encourages the goblin to be kinder in the future (a bit ironic considering the ponies had just been shouting things like "he's certainly the ugliest goblin" and "I'm sure he has no friends") and finishes by saying, "Why, perhaps you might even get a new name . . . How about Shiny-Star. That's much prettier!"

Later the goblin does reform and change his name to '''Shiny Star'''.  Because he has become so kind and helpful, [[Majesty]] awards him the [[Golden Star]] on [[Midsummer Eve]], to hang in his star-tree.

In appearance, the goblin is a short humanoid with a white beard.  He wears clothes in warm tones (red, yellow, and orange) including a red pointed cap with stars on it and a red cape.  He lives in a cottage, called Stardust Cottage or Star Cottage, depending on the issue.
