Derpy

Derpy is a G4 Pegasus Pony. She was initially a background pony in the TV show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, before being released in toy form due to popularity. Merchandise featuring Derpy typically avoids naming her outright, and usually includes her trademark cross-eyed appearance.

Derpy is Pegasus residing in Ponyville. She is depicted as being ditzy, clumsy, and accident prone, though eager to help others. She usually appears in background scenes, but is sometimes seen in short gags, with most revolving around her clumsiness or ditziness.

Derpy was introduced as an unnamed pony, appearing as filler in crowd shots and background scenes. Infamously, she appeared in the pilot episode, where she was depicted with crossed eyes as a gag by an animator. This appearance resulted in a great deal of popularity with fans, who gave her the nickname Derpy, due to her eyes. As a result of her popularity, Derpy, became more heavily featured in gags, with crossed eyes becoming a feature of the character. Derpy was officially named by Hasbro, in the episode "The Last Roundup", where she was referred to as Derpy and given a short speaking role. However, controversy over her depiction led to a voice change and her name being edited out of the scene.

Funko released a vinyl collectible figure of Derpy. Early releases featured an altered cutie mark, consisting of five elongated bubbles. This was corrected with later figurines, which properly featured the seven bubbles normally seen in Derpy's cutie mark.

The earliest ones released had five elongated bubbles for her symbol. This was soon corrected to the seven bubbles she has in her other appearances.
