Pipp Petals is a pop star / influencer in the pegasus city of Zephyr Heights, where she is known as the Pop Star Princess. Pipp is the daughter of Queen Haven and the (younger) twin sister of Zipp Storm. Her many fans are called "Pippsqueaks". Pipp loves streaming and gaming and has also starred in some commercials.

Pipp lived in Zephyr Heights with her mother, Queen Haven, and sister, Zipp Storm. Like the rest of the pegasi, the Royal Family was unable to fly due to the disappearance of magic, but with clever lighting and wire-work they managed to hide their lack of flight. Pipp was happy to play along with this deception, unlike her sister Zipp, who chafed at the charade.

As Pipp was getting ready to premiere a new song for the royal gala, the guards brought in an earth pony (Sunny Starscout) and a unicorn (Izzy Moonbow) who they suspected of being up to no good. Pipp instantly started livestreaming their arrival, ruining Queen Haven's plan to keep the outsiders a secret. She later visited them in the dungeon, to get more content, and was annoyed to find her sister already talking to them.

At the gala, Pipp unknowingly kept the crowd distracted as Sunny, Izzy, and Zipp stole Queen Haven's crown. However, the pony working the wires (Ruddy Sparks) got frightened by Izzy, and Pipp ended up tangled upside down in the wires, to the shock of the crowd.

Pipp tracked down Zipp and her new friends, demanding answers. Zipp started to explain that they wanted to return magic to the world, but was interrupted by a TV broadcast announcing that Queen Haven under arrest for being "a phony pony full of baloney." After this shocking news, Pipp agreed to join the others to bring back magic, hoping it would make the citizens of Zephyr Height forgive the Royal Family.

Though grumpy at first, she soon became friends with the other ponies. She helped Sunny and the others when Deputy Sprout attacked Sunny's lighthouse with a giant mecha and was thrilled when magic returned to Equestria and she was finally able to truly fly.
