G5 Pinkie Pie is a G5 My Little Pony first introduced in 2021.
Many moons ago, the earth pony Pinkie Pie was a Guardian of Friendship who represented the element of Laughter. Once a shining symbol of a united Equestria, now she is nothing but a legend whose story is passed down by the few that believe in it.
Unliked most examples of reused names in My Little Pony, G5 Pinkie Pie is intended in-universe to be the same character as G4 Pinkie Pie.

Pinkie Pie is a historical figure and the same Pinkie Pie from G4 that lived in Equestria many moons before G5's story began. Sunny Starscout's father, Argyle Starshine, told her stories of Pinkie Pie and the other Mane 6 when she was a filly, and they were some of the only ponies who believed in her existence before the end of My Little Pony: A New Generation. Pinkie Pie makes a cameo appearance at the beginning of A New Generation as a imaginary character in the game Sunny, Hitch Trailblazer and Sprout Cloverleaf play as foals. Sunny has a wooden toy of Pinkie Pie made by her father.
She appears briefly in a flashback story told by Discord in the IDW comics using her design from The Last Problem.
In the My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale episode Misty-rious New Room, a stained glass window of the G4 Mane 6, including Pinkie Pie, defeating Nightmare Moon can be seen.
