Card Games

Deck Building Games

Ponies: the Galloping

Magic: the Gathering is another Hasbro property that works as a collectible card game. While not a separate game, there were two releases of cards, called Ponies: the Galloping, that were specifically My Little Pony Magic: the Gathering cards.

The subtitle for these cards was Extra Life, as part of the purchase proceeds were donated to Extra Life and the Seattle Children's Hospital Autism Center.

The first set of three cards were released in 2019 and were Rarity, Nightmare Moon/Princess Luna, and Princess Twilight Sparkle. These came packaged in a special plastic display case contained in a plain white box.

The second set [1] of five cards were sold in 2023 and shipped in 2024, and were Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and "Discord, Lord of Disharmony." This second set had a regular card release and a foil card release. Both of these sets came packaged inside a black box, inside a sleeve, inside a specially marked white box.

There was also tie-in merchandise.

Jumbo Playing Cards

G5G4 Cards.jpg

Generation 4 continued having merchandise throughout Generation 5's run and beyond, which means Generation 5 and 4 had to be advertised at the same time. Somehow, Hasbro compromised and let these be produced. A similar thing happened to a set of puzzles released around this time.

These were released in 2022 by Spin Master LTD. and distributed by Greenbrier International, Inc..

Playing Cards

Aquarius produced sets of regular playing cards with G4 ponies on them. Pictured is a regular pack of cards and a special edition tin with two sets inside. The regular set is copyrighted 2013, and the special edition is 2014.

Shuffle

Players have to arrange cards one at a time to form whole gems.

This was created and distributed by Cartamundi in 2015 (though the cards say 2014 on them).

Snap

Top Trumps

Top Trumps is played by dealing out character cards that all have various stats on them. Each round, someone picks a stat, and whoever has the character card with the highest number in that stat wins the round.

These were created by Winning Moves UK Ltd. in 2015 for "Who's the Most Magical?" and 2017 for "Fabulous Friends."

Memory Games

Memory and matching games involve placing tiles face down and finding matches through memory and trial and error.

Board Games

Candy Land

Candy Land is played by pulling cards with color squares on them and moving your character to the closest square(s) of that color, or to a special space if you pull a particular location card.

Hasbro created a version themed after G4's "My Little Pony: the Movie" in 2017. Instead of the standard Candy Land characters and locations, the board mostly focuses on the seaponies and the main villains of the movie and uses the Mane Six's cutie marks for special location spots. It came with clear blind bag figures of Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash for the player characters. There are also cards with an option to help other players.

Chutes and Ladders

ChutesNLadders.jpg

The goal of Chutes and Ladders is to make it to the top of the board, hoping you land on ladders to climb up and trying to avoid chutes that make your character slip back down the board.

The My Little Pony version of the game came with three clear blind bag figures of Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash, who also appear as the characters on the board itself. This game also had pop up rainbows that act as another method of moving up the board.

It was produced by Hasbro in 2014.

Connect 4

Mlp connect4.JPG

The goal of Connect 4 is to take turns placing checker pieces into a grid until a player gets four of their pieces in a row/column/diagonal.

The My Little Pony version has a light pink and blue for the two player colors, but then has a surprising amount of minor characters as images on the pieces.

It was created by USAOPOLY in 2014.

The Game of Life

The Game of Life is usually played by making life choices as you go across the board until you reach retirement.

The My Little Pony version has the players working toward making it to the Summer Sun Celebration. There are tokens for foals that feature side characters from the show, tokens for pets that feature the Mane Six's actual pets, and the notes for money are Friendship Points instead of dollars.

This board game came with blind bag figures of Twilight Sparkle, DJ Pon-3, Doctor Whooves, and Derpy and was made by Usaopoly in 2014.

Guess Who?

Mylittleponyguesswho.png

Guess Who? involves having two players look at a set of character tiles. Each one picks a character that the other player has to try to guess after asking only yes or no questions.

There were different My Little Pony editions. The Friendship Festival version was made by Hasbro in 2017.

Monopoly

Monopoly involves players traveling around the edge of the board, buying properties, and charging other players rent if they land on their spaces.

This version of Monopoly was created by Usaopoly in 2013.

It features the Mane Six as the tokens, and the special cards are Discord (Chance) and Mayor Mare (Community Chest).

Monopoly Junior

This version by Hasbro in 2017 came with blind bag figures of Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash and was themed around the Friendship Festival.

Monopoly: 100 Years of Hasbro

This board game was not specifically My Little Pony merchandise, but because this set was celebrating Hasbro's 100th anniversary, one of the game pieces was G4 Pinkie Pie.

The set came in a tin box with a raised image on the front. The other seven of the main pieces were a Mr. Potato Head, a Transformer, a NERF football, a Tonka truck, the Magic: the Gathering logo, a Play-Doh container, and Peppa Pig.

It was made by Winning Solutions, Inc., in 2023.

Pie Face!

Pie Face! has a contraption for players to stick their head in where they crank a handle and see how long they can go before a plastic hand comes up and hits them with whipped cream.

The My Little Pony version, made by Rocket Games in 2017, is themed around Pinkie Pie and the Friendship Festival, and was a Toys R Us exclusive.

Ponyville Party Game

This game sold by Kohl's and made by Hasbro in 2014 came with three exclusive glitter blind bag figures of Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy. The goal of the game is to work as a team to collect invitations and then make it around the board to the party before Discord does.

Poppin' Pinkie Pie Game

This game has a plastic two layer cake with a Pinkie Pie figure inside under a lid. Players have small plastic stick balloons that they place in holes around the bottom layer of the cake. The balloons could trigger Pinkie Pie to pop out at the top, in which case the player that made her pop out is the winner.

It was made by Hasbro in 2014.

Rainbow Magic Game

This game by Hasbro came with at least two versions - one with unicorn Twilight Sparkle and one with alicorn Twilight Sparkle. The other blind bag figures that came with Twilight Sparkle were Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie.

In the Rainbow Magic Game, the players work together to build a 3D foam rainbow that can stand on its own once it is complete.

"In the rainbow game compete the four ponies Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Lyra Heartstrings about who comes first to the castle. If you follow the rainbow you jump forward on the board. If you end up in the water you run the risk to float back on the field. If you are lucky, one of your pony friends can help you out of the waterfall. The first one to arrive at the castle wins the game."

Created by Blip Toys (Blip LLC) in 2015, this game was sold under Rainbow Power packaging and was made of a plastic case that could be filled with water. The goal of the game is to get the highest score possible by getting little plastic rings into the clear plastic brackets with the best corresponding scores.

Yahtzee

Yahtzee is a dice game where you shake and drop five dice. Certain combinations of numbers on the dice will get certain scores, with the highest being yahtzee itself, five of a kind.

  • 1 - Twilight Sparkle
  • 2 - Rarity
  • 3 - Rainbow Dash
  • 4 - Pinkie Pie
  • 5 - Fluttershy
  • 6 - Applejack

This game was made by Usaopoly in 2015.
