Boy Blue is a human character based on the nursery rhyme:
Little Boy Blue, come blow your horn, / The sheep's in the meadow, the cow's in the corn; / Where is that boy who looks after the sheep? / Under the haystack fast asleep.
As in the nursery rhyme, Boy Blue looks after the farm animals but sometimes falls asleep on the job. Like many characters, his appearance can vary greatly from comic to comic.
