In the UK there were two lines of My Little Pony comics, the weekly "My Little Pony" and the monthly (slightly longer and more expensive) "My Little Pony and Friends". The first issue of "My Little Pony" was sold in the summer of 1985.
The comics featured cartoon strip stories, games and puzzles, toy adverts and were a great source for discovering the brand's mail order offers. Both comic lines frequently came with free gifts as well, including combs, badges, stickers and balloons.
