Dramatic differences in symbols (aka beauty marks) may be the result of being produced in different factories or produced at different times.

The second version of Ginger's symbol usually has a smiley face like the original, the one pictured in the comparison is probably a factory error. There is a difference in the copyright marks on the bottoms of the figures as well - this could mean that different factories produced them. Tail hair is usually curly (photo featured shows much straighter tail hair).
