"The Ticket Master" is the third episode of the first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In this episode, Twilight Sparkle receives two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala, and all five of her friends want the second ticket. A running gag in the episode is that Twilight Sparkle is very hungry but gets interrupted every time she tries to eat.

Synopsis
Twilight Sparkle is helping Applejack harvest apples when she receives a letter from Princess Celestia with two tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala. She offers the second ticket to Spike, but he does not want it because he thinks that the gala will be girly. Applejack wants the ticket because she can sell apples at the gala and increase business for Sweet Apple Acres. Rainbow Dash, who overheard, wants the ticket so that she can impress the Wonderbolts. Twilight Sparkle cannot decide who to give the ticket to and says that she wants to get lunch first.
Twilight Sparkle bumps into Pinkie Pie, who sees the ticket wants it so that she can have fun at the gala. G4 Rarity overhears and says that she wants the ticket so that she can meet Princess Celestia's nephew, whom she wants to marry. One of Fluttershy's bunnies shows her the ticket, and she wants to go so that she can enjoy the beautiful flowers and birds in the garden. All five of Twilight Sparkle's friends start arguing over the ticket, and Twilight Sparkle says that she needs to decide who to give the ticket to on her own.
Twilight Sparkle tries to eat lunch outdoors, and it starts raining everywhere except around her because Rainbow Dash has kicked a hole in the rain clouds to gain favor with Twilight Sparkle. Twilight Sparkle says that she does not want anyone to do favors to increase their chances of getting the ticket and asks Rainbow Dash to close the hole in the storm cloud. Rarity drags Twilight Sparkle to her boutique to give her a makeover for the gala. Applejack is at the door of the boutique with apple treats, which Twilight Sparkle refuses despite being very hungry. She goes home to her library, but Fluttershy and her animals are cleaning it. She kicks them out, but Pinkie Pie throws a surprise party right outside her door. All of the ponies attending the party find out about the gala ticket and want it.
Twilight Sparkle runs away from all of the ponies who want her ticket and teleports back to her library, where all of her friends are waiting for her. She explains that she can't decide who to give the second ticket to because she will have to disappoint the rest of her friends. Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie apologize for making Twilight Sparkle feel so overwhelmed and say that they no longer want their tickets. Rainbow Dash gets excited that she is the only one who still wants the ticket, but she decides that she also does not want it. Twilight Sparkle returns her tickets to Princess Celestia with a letter saying that it is hard when there are not enough blessings to go around and that she would only enjoy the gala if all of her friends could come with her. Princess Celestia sends her six tickets so that they can all go. Spike suddenly wishes that he could go, and Princess Celestia sends a seventh ticket to him.

- This episode has a very similar premise to the My Little Pony Tales episode "And the Winner Is...".
