The human version of Rarity is a counterpart to the pony Rarity. She attends Canterlot High School, and appears to be focused on fashion and design much like her counterpark. She was once friends with the human counterparts of Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie, but their friendship was broken up by Sunset Shimmer. When Twilight Sparkle comes from Equestria in pursuit of a crown (actually the Element of Magic) Sunset Shimmer had stolen, Rarity agrees to help Twilight win it.
During the final showdown with Sunset Shimmer, the crown's magic grants Rarity pony-like features, including pony ears, and a long ponytail resembling a real pony tail. After Sunset Shimmer's defeat, Rarity would retain these features, though she returns to normal after Twilight returns to Equestria.
The earliest Rarity release features a molded top painted blue, purple skirt with diamond print, and a pair of sunglasses. She has lavender glitter eyeshadow and three blue diamonds on her right cheek. One section of her hair is extra long to simulate a tail, and her legs end in pegs that snap into her boots.
