Wysteria was first released as one of the Rainbow Celebration Ponies in summer 2003.

Variants
In the first year of G3, all ponies were initially released with their hoof-heart on their display-side (the side on which their symbol appeared). Midway through the first year this was changed so that the hoof-heart was always on the magnet leg. Because of this, Wysteria can be found with the heart on either her left or right leg.

Wysteria has starred in several of the G3 My Little Pony cartoons and DVDs, including A Charming Birthday, Friends Are Never Far Away, A Very Minty Christmas, The Princess Promenade, A Very Pony Place, The World's Biggest Tea Party and cameo in Meet the Ponies, in all of which her voice was played by Tabitha St.Germain.
One of the more mature and responsible ponies in Ponyville, Wysteria is the one in charge of the Spring Promenade. A soft spoken pony, she's shown to have a love of flowers and a willingness to get dirty but freaks out at the sight of weeds. In The Princess Promenade, she's coronated as Ponyville's new princess but dislikes the restrictions and the fact that her title means her friends are now supposed to be her subjects. Using her new-found power, she changed the rules and performed a coronation of the entire town. It is unknown whether or not she's still considered in charge or not due to this.

In 2003, a promotion for the My Little Pony toyline Hasbro sold a limited amount of numbered ponies on Ebay through the ebay seller WorldinAdvance. There were 50 of each pony sold and they were numbered 1-50 with an official foil sticker placed on their packaging. These ponies also came with a certificate.
