Later in 2003, Kimono was one of eight ponies packaged and sold with the ''[[A Charming Birthday]]'' VHS and a plastic charm bracelet to hold pony charms. The pony itself and her brush and charm are identical to the original release. The package differences are a purple heart sticker with the words "FREE VIDEO!" in white on the front flap and the VHS attached to the back of the package. The charm bracelet is held inside by plastic and encircles the pony's front hooves.

To celebrate the return of the My Little Pony toy line in 2003, [[Hasbro]] collaborated with World in Advance to auction the first 50 figures off the production lines of six different ponies on eBay. Each pony is individually numbered 1-50, noted with a holographic sticker on the side of the package, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.  As they are part of the regular production line, they are otherwise no different than their standard release counterparts. The promotion was very successful and continued with different pony sets through 2005, though the '''First 50''' package sticker would change and no certificates were issued after 2003.

Kimono is a Generation 3 My Little Pony. She is a shimmery opal purple pony with dark violet hair with iridescent tinsel, green/yellow eyes, and a golden yellow Japanese lantern Cutie Mark. She is one of the first eight G3 ponies released in 2003 and has a total of three different releases in two different poses.

Kimono is featured in the A Charming Birthday short, in which she is known as "the wisest pony in the land."

Kimono, voiced by Kathleen Barr, stars in A Charming Birthday. According to Razzaroo, she is "the wisest pony in the land" and "keeper of all precious pony legend and lore." She is also "very smart" and "very hard to surprise." Kimono states that she lives outside of the town of Ponyville, seemingly because the other ponies' hustle and bustle disrupts her serenity. Minty visits Kimono to cleverly gain insight on how the other ponies can surprise her for her birthday. Kimono's advice about Minty's problem gives the ponies an idea about how to best work together to make the perfect birthday gift.
