The Pegasus Ponies were introduced in Year Two and are the first flying ponies. They most closely resemble Pegasus of Greek mythology, hence the name. Their wings are bird-like, unlike the other flying ponies, such as the Flutter Ponies and Summer Wing Ponies.
The pegasus ponies often allow Megan and her siblings to ride on their backs over the rainbow to Ponyland.
Year Two (1983-1984)
Pegasus Ponies
The Year Two pegasus ponies and unicorns were sold in the same assortment, and there are two pegasus ponies and four unicorns in the set. They are the first ponies to feature glitter symbols. The Year Two pegasus ponies introduced the Firefly pose, called the "Prancing" pose in the TV commercial – seen here.
Lyrics are as follows, sung to the familiar tune:
My Little Pony, unicorn,
A magical pony with beautiful hair.
My Little Pony, pegasus,
Imagine my pony flying through the air.
The new little ponies, in pretty poses,
Sitting and turning and prancing too.
My Little Pony, My Little Pony,
My pony, I love you.
My pony, I love you.
Firefly and Medley are two of the main characters in the Rescue at Midnight Castle/Firefly's Adventure pilot episode, but they were not featured in the later TV series or movie.
Each pony includes a shooting star brush, ribbon, and a round puffy sticker, as well as an order form for Ember.
