Beginning in Year Two, Hasbro created a mail order program known as the Horseshoe Points Program. Consumers would clip the Horseshoe Points from the packages of their storebought ponies and mail them, along with a check or money order, to Hasbro in exchange for exclusive ponies and merchandise.

Ember, My Beautiful Baby Pony
Ember is both the first mail order pony and the first baby pony. She was available in three colors and bears no symbol. The cost for one Ember pony was five (5) Horseshoe Points and $1.25 USD. The final date to submit orders was January 31, 1985.
Year Three (1984-1985)
Birthflower Ponies
This year’s mail order ponies are a set of 12 birthflower ponies. Each pony's symbol is the flower associated with the corresponding birth month, and all are earth ponies. The original cost for one Birthflower Pony was $3 USD and two (2) Horseshoe Points, and the cost for the full set of 12 was $30 USD. There are, however, many different order forms from several different years, all with different prices. The final date to submit orders, per all available forms, was June 30, 1987.
