Generation 2 refers to the second generation of My Little ponies. That is the reactivated of the line created about five years after the original 80's line ended. These My Little Ponies were made between 1997 and 2002. The line ran only about two years in the United States, but continued on in Europe about six years.

Many pony collectors biggest fault with G2 was that the ponies were hard to play with! Many ponies had very poor stability, making it very difficult to simply stand them up. Also the picks the ponies were issued with were often too small to use.

G2 ponies' thinness (the major part of their poor stability) in comparison to G1 ponies made them seem anorexic, which many pony collectors considered a bad move concerning body image.
