Overview

Generation 1 ponies were made between 1982 and 1995.

Year One - 1983

The first My Little Ponies released were six Earth Ponies in what is commonly called the collectors pose. They can be distinguished from the Collectors Ponies released in the second year by their feet. Year one ponies have flat feet, and year two ponies have concaved feet. For this reason, they are called "Flat Foot" (ff) for ease of reference amongst collectors.

Original Ponies

  • Butterscotch Orange with orange hair - orange butterflies on rump
  • Blue Belle Blue with purple hair - purple stars on rump
  • Minty Green with white hair - green clovers on rump
  • Snuzzle Grey with pink hair - pink hearts on rump
  • Cotton Candy Pink with pink hair - white dots on rump
  • Blossom - Lilac with purple hair - white flowers on rump

Year Two - 1984

Hasbro released more elaborate ponies in the second year, with much more variety in colour, pose and type. They introduced unicorn, pegasus and sea ponies. Rainbow ponies also made their first appearance this year, and were a mixture of earth, unicorn and pegasus ponies.

  • Blossom Lavender with purple hair - white flowers on rump
  • Cotton Candy Pink with pink hair - white odd-shaped dots on rump
  • Bow Tie Blue with pink hair - pink bows on rump
  • Applejack Orange with yellow hair - red apples with green leaves on rump
  • Seashell Purple with green hair - white blaze on face, green seashells on rump
  • Bubbles Yellow with blue hair - white blaze on face, green and blue bubbles on rump

Pegasus Ponies

  • Medley Blue with green hair - green musical notes on rump
  • Firefly Pink with blue hair - blue lightening on rump

Unicorn Ponies

  • Twilight Pink with white and purple hair - silver stars on rump
  • Glory White with purple and blue hair - silver shooting star on rump
  • Moondancer White with red and lavender hair - red stars and silver moon on rump
  • Sunbeam Blue with white and yellow hair - golden sun on rump
